Hello, I am still looking for Bob St. Marie who was Rev. Brad Thorp's assistant when they were in Maryland. Have not seen him since the June/July 1988 Family Camp at Camp Gunnison (Rev. John Townsend's "Walk Of Believing"). This is Tom Cleveland, originally from Duluth, Minnesota (where Bob is from also.) I am now in Houston, Texas. I am having a spiritual struggle with the gift of speaking in tongues. God has given me this gift, and I feel like HE would have me to use it. However, we are in the Southern Baptist fellowship, and they do not believe that this is a gift that is appropriate to this place in time. I would like to be able to use this gift in the church we belong to, but when I met with my pastor regarding it, he advised me that it would cause confusion in the church and possibly lower my standing with some of the members. I have considered visiting different denominations in our area, but my husband is a Baptist preacher and he has told me that he does not want to have anything to do with the other denominations. I know that I am to be in submission to my husband, but this issue is making it difficult for me to worship in our church. Does anyone out there have any advice for me? I would also like to find some study materials so that I can go over this gift with my husband (who, by the way, does not have a problem with it). I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. God Bless everyone. Since taking the PFAL class back in 1986 in Longmont, Colorado, I have met many a great believer, including my wife :-) Back in the summer of 1988 (sounds like a movie!) I went to Camp Gunnison, Colorado to Family Camp. Rev. John Townsend coordinated that camp, "The Walk Of Believing". I had met an old friend there at that time from Duluth, Minnesota named Bob St. Marie, who I had not seen in 15 years prior. He was Rev. Thorp's assistant in Annapolis, Maryland. I had some contact with him when I moved to California in 1988, but lost cantact. If you are out there buddy, or if anyone knows of him, sure would be nice to meet up again. God bless brother. I just want to say that it is so wonderful that so many of you are out there. I recently found all of the believers web sites and it is comforting to know that there is hope for people that have decided to move on with their lives in a more loving environment. We are not people that should be told what to do. We do have minds of our own and are capable of making decisions that pertain to our own lives.I am so thankful now that I've got my responsibilities right. GOD first.HUSBAND second. CHILDREN third.I know that I must answer to God and so will everyone else. So until that day keep your hearts pure and loving and hey, I dont think church is so bad!
